Bullying Prevention

According to experts in the field, bullying in general is the exploitation of a less powerful person by an individual taking unfair advantage of that person, which is repeated over time, and which inflicts a negative effect on the victim.

Students are encouraged to inform school personnel if they are the victim of or a witness to acts of harassment, intimidation, or bullying.  Reports may be made anonymously. However, no formal disciplinary action shall be taken solely on the basis of an anonymous report.

A Note from the Principals:  Principals, counselors and teachers will always take reports of bullying seriously and will investigate and address all situations.  We want all of our students to feel happy, confident and safe.  We have several ways for students to report bullying (toward themselves or others). Principals will discuss the ways to report bullying during team meetings on the second day of school as well as periodically throughout the school year. 

Bullying Information, Reporting Procedures, and MPS Board Policy

Bullying means any pattern of harassment, intimidation, threatening behavior, or physical act, directed toward a student or group of students that results in or is reasonably perceived as being done with the intent to cause negative educational or physical results for the targeted individual or group and is communicated in such a way as to disrupt or interfere with the school’s educational mission or the education of any student. 

How to Report

There are three (3) ways to report bullying.  

• A student may report bullying to a teacher, counselor, or school administrator

• A student may anonymously report bullying by picking up a bullying reporting form in the media center or office and may turn the form in to the reporting box located in the main CRI hallway between our media center and office areas. 

• A student may use their phone, scan the QR code found on signs located around Canyon Ridge, and fill out the short online form. The link to the online form is also available on the CRI website.  It may be filled out anonymously or if a student provides their name, it will be kept confidential.
